The International Motoring Bookshop was founded with the aim of promoting culture and passion for the world of motoraports, through a curated selection of historical and contemporary books o dedicated to automobiles and motorcycles, in various languages. Founded on October 17, 1962, on Via Hoepli in Milan, under the auspices of the ACI – Automobile Club d’Italia - it has been a point of reference for enthusiasts, scholars, and industry professionals since its inception.

The event was attended by leading figures from the automotive world, including drivers Giancarlo Baghetti and Piero Taruffi, journalist Giovanni Canestrini—one of the key figures in the founding of the Mille Miglia—and Luigi Bertett, Vice President of the ACI.
In 1970, Giorgio Nada took over as commercial director of the ACI bookstore and publishing house (LEA – L’Editrice dell’Automobile), relocating the headquarters to Corso Venezia, within the prestigious building of the Automobile Club d’Italia.
In 1973, the bookstore passed to the Nada family: Giorgio Nada, together with his wife Silvia, launched its international expansion, introducing for the first time in Italy a wide range of titles in English, German, and French.
In 1977, Giorgio Nada also began publishing, releasing the first volume—dedicated to Moto Guzzi—under the imprint Edizioni della Libreria dell’Automobile. This marked the beginning of a publishing journey that would grow over time, with over 1,000 titles published.
Giorgio Nada Editore was founded in 1987 as an independent publisher that has established itself over the years as a leading European and international authority in the field of automotive culture.
THE STORE
The historic Libreria dell’Automobile store is located in Milan at Corso Venezia 45.
The selection includes over 10,000 titles covering every aspect of the automotive world: from monographs on car and motorcycle brands to technical manuals and maintenance guides, from motorsports to industrial and specialty vehicles, as well as model cars, design, and collectible books. The selection is rounded out by Italian and international magazines and a curated section of rare and out-of-print volumes.
Today, the Libreria dell’Automobile is considered one of the most specialized bookstores in Europe, appreciated not only for the breadth of its selection but also for the welcoming atmosphere and expertise that have always characterized its relationship with customers.
In addition to its in-store operations, the bookstore operates internationally through its website, participates in major industry trade shows, and regularly organizes events, presentations, and book signings with authors, journalists, and key figures from the automotive world.
