''The era of the Lancia Stratos, the car that with its superiority had to some extent scared off all the other constructors, was interrupted prematurely to make room for the Fiat 131 Abarth, and we won with that too! In the meantime however, the Audi Quattro had arrived and posed a massive problem for everyone, not just us, because the Germans were the only ones with four-wheel drive. So we asked ourselves: "How can we stay ahead of these Audis?" and we came up with a true racing car. This meant creating something really light, much lighter than the Audi Quattros, mid-engined and with rear-wheel drive. The 037. No one thought we'd be competitive against the Audi and instead we won the '83 World Championship'' Cesare Fiorio
